Spring Lake, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier was arrested Wednesday and charged in a shooting last week that left another soldier dead and three other people wounded, authorities said.

Bryant Keith Holmes, 19, who authorities believe to be a member of a Quarter Master Company at Fort Bragg, was charged with felony conspiracy and being an accessory after the fact.

Holmes was a passenger in a car that dropped 21-year-old Christopher Bridges-Mitchell, also a Fort Bragg soldier, off at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on Oct. 26, authorities said. Bridges-Mitchell had been shot, and he died at the hospital.

Investigators with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Holmes and Eric Jervey Jr. attempted to rob a home at 1324 Alden St. in Spring Lake when the shooting occurred. It's unclear how Bridges-Mitchell was shot in the incident.

Jervey, 28, of 205 Law Road, Apt. B, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony conspiracy and first-degree burglary.

Investigators said they believe that Jervey shot Norman Brown, 28, Tony Brown, 26, and LaQuan Demar Whitted, 31, in the Browns' mobile home. They were treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and released.

No murder charge has been filed yet in Bridges-Mitchell's death.
