Halifax, N.C. — A corrections officer at Caledonia Correctional Institution was killed early Monday in a mobile home fire, authorities said.
William Jerome Person, 32, was the only person in the home between Halifax and Weldon when the fire started about 3 a.m. Monday, authorities said. His body was found in a bedroom in the home.
Authorities said a kerosene heater might have sparked the fire.
