Fort Bragg soldier killed in Spring Lake shooting

A man shot and killed on Monday at a mobile home at 1324 Alden St. in Spring Lake has been identified as a Fort Bragg soldier, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Mitchell Bridges, 21, was assigned to an Army support unit at Fort Bragg.

Three others were wounded in the shooting. They have been identified as Norman V. Brown, 28, Tony Brown, 26, both of Spring Lake, and LaQuan Demar Whitted, 31, of Fayetteville.

All three were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500 or call the Fayetteville Police Department.

I remember there were some statistics a year or two ago where soldiers were safer in Iraq than people living in Chicago due to how many homicides in Chicago.

The only time I have been to Spring Lake was to buy a dog from a breeder, so I don't know a lot about the place, but it seems to me it must be a rough kind of place. Seems like lots of stuff in the news about it.
