A New Hill man is accused of having sexual contact with two underage girls, according to the Chatham County sheriff’s office.

Lewis Spence, 43, of 1120 Horton Road, was arrested this past weekend and charged with five counts of felonious indecent liberties with a minor, two counts of indecent exposure, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and secretly peeping.

The victims were 15 and 16.

Spence was being held Tuesday under a $150,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 14.

What has happened to our justice system - does it not have responsible employees makeing decisions or are they just there filling space and without a brain?

In Johnston County things are done a little differently. Without so much as a shred of evidence, nothing but testimony of the almighty Dept of Social Services and the arresting 'officer', they hand out 50 year and nine month sentences for the very same infractions as this guy is charged with.

well, lets hope he lives in a million dollar home in Cary--then he can get off with 5 years probation and a few weekends in jail.

Based on NC law, both girls are "of age". The age of consent in NC is 13, yes 13. As long as the other person is no more than 4 years older, ie 13 and 17.

I think someone is mistaken in this article, maybe indecent exposure for the 16 yr old but the other charges have to be on the behalf of the 15 yr old. You can't charge Indecent Liberties if the victim is 16. WRAL please clarify your story
