Raleigh, N.C. — Crews will begin repaving Wade Avenue between Faircloth Street and Glenwood Avenue on Monday, officials said Friday.
The state Department of Transportation awarded the $1.3 million contract for the project to Rea Contracting LLC of Raleigh. Work is scheduled to be completed in June 2010.
Heavy traffic volume on the road, which is used by about 30,000 vehicles a day, has caused the road to deteriorate, creating a number of potholes. The project includes removing the old asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt, including on the exit ramps onto Capital Boulevard and Glenwood Avenue.
Work will be done from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays, and from 7 p.m. Fridays to 6 a.m. Mondays.
