Rocky Mount police arrested two men on drug charges Saturday after searching a property where a 17-year-old was killed during a robbery last month.

Officers seized 16 grams of marijuana, $188.66 in cash, two shotguns, alcohol products and drug paraphernalia from 2104 Travis Run.

They arrested Bennie Evans, 36, on charges of felony possession of marijuana, possession of drugs with intent to sell and deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, selling alcohol without a permit, maintaining a dwelling for the production of contraband substances, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Rodriguez Evans, 18, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Criminal Investigative Division officers came to the scene because of the Sept. 8 slaying of Jermaine Larquez Lynch.

Lynch, who lived nearby, was gunned down after he saw a robbery occurring outside the house and tried to run away. No arrests have been made.

Police said the investigation into illegal activity at 2104 Travis Run is ongoing.

Bennie Evans is being held under a $30,000 secured bond, and Rodriguez Evans has a $2,000 secured bond.

According to state Department of Correction records, Rodriguez Evans was placed on probation on July 30 for a larceny in Nash County.

DOC records show that Bennie Evans has been convicted as a habitual drunk driver. He was also convicted of assault by pointing a gun 20 years ago.

Something doesn't sound right here. How is he charged with intent to sell/deliver with only a little over half an ounce of pot? Did he have it all bagged up in separate quarter gram bong hit packages? LOL !!! Lock up these hardened criminals !!!
