Two men wanted in a shooting in Roanoke Rapids surrendered Tuesday to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said Charles Edward Hockaday, 29, and Alston Lamont Parker, 23, argued with Maggie Graham, 44, Sunday before she was shot.

Hockaday faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a weapon into occupied property. He was held on $500,000 bond.

Hockaday was one of four suspects in the April 2008 killing of 29-year-old Jerry Wayne Yellorday. Charges against all four were dropped last October after a judge ruled that there was no probable cause to continue the case.

According to state Department of Correction records, Hockaday's 10-year-long criminal record includes convictions for common-law robbery and selling drugs.

Parker was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. His bond was set at $2,000.
