Raeford, N.C. — Hoke County deputies arrested two men Wednesday on charges that they helped two gunmen flee after a Valentine's Day slaying.

Berry Anthony Malloy, 29, of 5030 New Moon Drive in Fayetteville, and Shareef Omar Taylor, 35, of 435 Starlit Drive in Fayetteville, were charged with one count each of accessory after the fact of first-degree murder. They were being held Thursday in the Hoke County Jail under $35,000 and $50,000 bonds, respectively.

The charges stem from the Feb. 14 shooting of Keith Thomas at a house party on 1311 Clan Campbell Drive in Raeford. A fight broke out in the yard, several weapons were fired during the altercation and two men were wounded, authorities said.

Thomas, 27, of Angier, was shot twice and died. A man, whose name hasn't been released, was critically injured.

Darrell Thomas, 31, of 1125 Whisker Lake Road in Fayetteville, and Xavier Whitted, 19, of 2931 Orbie Circle in Fayetteville, have been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting.

Investigators said Malloy and Taylor helped Thomas and Whitted flee to Fayetteville, where they hid out in Taylor's home.
