RALEIGH, N.C. — A 21-year-old woman died after a vehicle struck her on Hodges Road and the driver fled early Sunday, said Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue.

Whitney Monique Mangum and the occupants of a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Phylicia Olivia Price, were involved in a dispute, Sughrue said. At some point, as Price's vehicle moved forward, Mangum – who was close to the vehicle – was run over near Wake Forest Road around 2:45 a.m.

The driver of another privately-owned vehicle near the scene took Mangum to Duke Raleigh Hospital, where she died.

Price drove away from the scene, but officers found her vehicle in the 5400 block of Tralee Place, about 3 miles north, off Millbrook Road, Sughrue said.

Police arrested and charged Price with felony hit-and-run.

Price was released from the Wake County Jail Sunday evening after posting a $50,000 secured bond. Her first court appearance was set for Monday.

Sughrue said that police are continuing to investigate the case. Investigators planned to meet with the Wake County District Attorney to discuss charges.
