Raleigh, N.C. — Roderick Sanders, 24, of Wake County, is accused of trying to kill Shyona Perry on Sept. 11 by setting her on fire, according to an arrest warrant.
Authorities haven't released a motive for the attack or disclosed the relationship between Sanders and the victim.
Sanders was charged with attempted murder. He was being held Wednesday at the Wake County Jail under a $2 million bond. His first court appearance was set for Thursday afternoon.
According to state Department of Correction records, Sanders has been convicted selling drugs and larceny in Wake County. Court records show that he has also been charged with armed robbery and several assault charges.
