Mount Olive, N.C. — A cemetery in southern Wayne County turned into a crime scene when Mount Olive police found the bodies of two people who did not belong there.
Police Chief Ralph Schroeder said Tuesday that he's waiting reports from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the State Bureau of Investigation to determine exactly what happened to Martavia Shevon Royster, 16, of East Kornegay Street, and Tiqko King, 29, of East Nelson Street.
Police found their bodies in Carver Cemetery Sunday afternoon.
Schroeder said Royster had recently moved to Mount Olive and lived with her grandmother, less than two miles from the cemetery.
"Mount Olive is not that big an area or town, and we're pretty familiar with everyone in town," Schroeder said. "We did not recognize her."
Schroeder said the pair knew each other, and that they both died of gunshot wounds.
Although the case is still open, the chief said people who live nearby shouldn't be worried about their safety.
"We believe this is an isolated incident," he said. "At this point, I don't feel that there are any other suspects."

It's too funny to have that story follow it.
Uh, to the handwringer crowd, folks, it's the fault of the editor, not the READERS if we find the headlines funny or offbeat. It's the way THEY re written, not the way we are made.

Welcome to WRAL.com. Whiner and ignorance capitol of the internet! Yes, the original headline could easily cause a chuckle.
“Anytime someone's life is taken (which is murder) then it is not funny regardless where the murder occured.” – Professor
Read the comment again! The comment was that the HEADLINE was kind of funny (which it was), not that a murder was funny.
