A former Orange County deputy is accused of drunken driving.

Kevin Lamont Umstead, 24, of 6021 Kelvin Drive, was arrested Friday night on Guess Road in Durham, authorities said.

He was charged with DWI and resisting an officer, authorities said.

Umstead was released from the Durham County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

Orange County Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass said Tuesday that Umstead no longer works for the department.

The herald sun has the correct story, he WAS an Orange County Deputy at the time of his arrest, as a result of the arrest the Sheriff has since fired him (damage control)

Who cares?

Nice. He should go back to work with the other O.C. drunks protecting the roads.

If you or I had done this the bond would be a whole lot more.

Is he a "former deputy" because of this arrest? If not, it should not be part of the story.
