Raeford, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman was killed Saturday night as she walked along U.S. Highway 401, authorities said.

Kalen Jeanette Salinaz, 23, of 1116 Marlboro Road, was walking along the highway near Pittman Grove Church Road east of Raeford, state troopers said. She was walking in the direction of traffic and was struck from behind, state troopers said.

A caller reported her body along the right shoulder of the highway just after 10:30 p.m.

A witness had called previously to report that they had to swerve out of the way of Salinaz who was walking down the same road.

No charges will be filed in the incident, troopers said.
