Roanoke Rapids, N.C. — A man wanted on domestic violence charges was arrested after a foot chase by a Halifax County sheriff's deputy and Roanoke Rapids police officers Wednesday.
Deputy C. Scott recognized Jermaine Samuel Bowser, 30, while patrolling the South Rosemary area, authorities said. Scott confirmed that Bowser was wanted on warrants for domestic violence and non-payment of child support.
Bowser fled when Scott approached him, but the deputy and police officers caught him hiding behind a shed on Willow Street, authorities said.
Bowser faces one count of assault on a female and two counts each of non-payment of child support, domestic violence and resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer.
He was denied bond for the domestic violence charges and given a $500 cash bond for nonpayment of child support and a $1,000 secured bond on the charges of resisting arrest. He was scheduled to appear in court Sept. 8 and 30.
According to state Department of Correction records, Bowser was released on March 9 after serving a little more than 2 months on three counts of assault on a female. DOC records show he served nearly three years for violating his parole stemming from four convictions for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one for discharging a firearm into property in 1999.

I hear your point, but what do you do to someone that will not pay? There is punishment for that it is called jail. I have some experience in the judicial side of this matter and I hear judges say, I know you can't make money in jail, but when you were out of jail and had a job you didn't pay a dime so you do the time.

Anyhow, I think child support needs to be paid, but shouldbe reasonable. Not 75% of a dudes pay or whatever, that's just wrong. Can you live on 700$/month?? For EVERYTHING?
