WHITAKERS, N.C. — A Whitakers man was arrested Saturday night and charged in a shooting that left one man dead and two people wounded, authorities said.

Kelvin Shante Stallings, 33, of South Whitfield Drive, was charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was being held in the Nash County Jail under a $75,000 secured bond.

Nash County deputies responded to a reported shooting at 10969 West St. in Whitakers at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday and found Larry Donnell Williams, 31, of Whitakers, dead.

Lee Matthew Caudle, 22, of Whitakers, and LaShaunda Sharea Silver, 28, of Enfield, were wounded, authorities said. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said they believe Williams shot Caudle and Silver before he was killed.

The case remains under investigation.
