Clayton police probe vandalism spree

print friendly

Police are investigating a string of incidents in which the windows of businesses have been damaged by pellet guns or slingshot-type devices.

Eight businesses, primarily located on Main Street and U.S. Highway 70 Business, have reported damage to their windows since Sunday, police said. Some projectiles have shattered windows, but most have caused small chips in the glass, police said.

The majority of the vandalism is believed to have occurred between 8 and 11 p.m. and likely involved projectiles being shot or launched from a passing vehicle, police said.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Clayton Police Department at 919-553-4611 or Clayton Crime Stoppers at 919-359-TIPZ (8479).

I'm sure the Clayton Police have already thought of this, but it sounds very similar to what was going on at a Clayton Elementary school. Vandals smashing windows late at night... It's just a shame that people don't have more respect for their community and neighbors.

Some people have nothing better to do........sad......Now the business owners are stuck with the mess!!!!
