Raleigh, N.C. — A homeless man stabbed and hit a homeless woman with a piece of wood Saturday morning, Raleigh Police Lt. A.B. Lull said.
Rebecca Smith Vazquez and Roy Douglas Prelwitz, who is also homeless, were both staying in a wooded area, near South Saunders and South Wilmington streets, when a dispute occurred, Lull said.
After being attacked, Vazquez sought help. She was listed in good condition Sunday at WakeMed.
Police charged Prelwitz with assault with a deadly weapon. He was being held in the Wake County Jail Sunday under a $500,000 bond.
