Atlantic Beach, N.C. — The Coast Guard and Marines have been searching for a 67-year-old man since his girlfriend told authorities he was overdue from a sailing trip Thursday night.
The search for Michael Dodick has been going on off Cape Lookout Shoals. A 47-foot rescue boat from Station Fort Macon, 110-foot cutter from Atlantic Beach, C-130 Hercules airplane, MH-60J hawk helicopter and two other Coast Guard cutters are involved in the search.
"Mariners are requested to keep a sharp lookout, assist if possible and report any sightings to the nearest Coast Guard unit," said Lt. j.g. Scott Hembrook, public affairs officer at Sector North Carolina.
Dodick is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.
