Police: Dead woman's missing car spotted in Florida

Raleigh, N.C. — Police say the vehicle of a Raleigh woman at the center of a death investigation was spotted in Florida.

The body of Patsy Eason Barefoot, 60, of 3939-133 Wake Forest Road, was found dead in her home last month. Police ruled her death suspicious, but have not released the cause of death.

Barefoot's silver 2002 Ford Focus was missing. Police said Wednesday that they believe the vehicle was driven from her apartment complex at approximately 6:30 p.m. on June 26.

The vehicle, with N.C. license plate RNY-5847, was driven to southern Florida shortly afterward, and the driver of the vehicle was reported to be a white man, police said.

Police would like to speak with anyone who might be able to provide information about the possible identification of the vehicle’s driver. That person could be someone who left the Raleigh area at about the time of Barefoot’s death and remains away, or it could be someone who left this area and returned.

Do they HAVE the car, or was it just sighted?

Why would she let someone have her car that was not a close friend or relative? Why do they keep saying it wasn't a robbery? It has been along time for someone to have borrowed her car for a trip or vacation and not have come back. They need to call it what it is and quit beating around the bush.
