Apex, N.C. — An investigation is under way after a body was found Tuesday afternoon in Jordan Lake near the intersection of Beaver Creek and Lower Pea Ridge roads.

Emergency dispatch received a phone call at 12:45 p.m. from a person who found some personal items on the lake shore while fishing.

Upon arrival, Chatham County sheriff's deputies found a Gray Pontiac near the area. Fire and Rescue personnel then began a search of the lake and the body was discovered in the water at about 4:20 p.m.

The person's name is being withheld pending notification on next of kin.
