Raleigh, N.C. — State and local law enforcement officers are participating in "Operation Firecracker." The 10-day crackdown began Monday and will target speeders and impaired drivers with checkpoints and increased patrols.
Friday morning, troopers ticketed more than 100 drivers in the area of Interstate 40 near Harrison Avenue.
Last year, law enforcement officers issued 66,738 traffic and criminal citations and conducted 5,724 sobriety checkpoints and patrols in the 10 days including the Fourth of July holiday.

We only enforce the law on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today is Friday. (sarcasm of course).. We DO enforce the law every day. It's not like we're just sitting around watching TV.
