Charlotte flight diverted after passenger gets naked

naked man on charlotte flight

A U.S. Airways flight from Charlotte en route to Los Angeles was diverted to Albuquerque briefly after a passenger removed his clothing and ran around the plane naked, Albuquerque CBS affiliate KRQE reported Wednesday.

U.S. Airways Flight 705 landed at the Albuquerque International Sunport around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday so the passenger, who has not been named, could be removed from the plane by the Albuquerque Sunport Police.

Passengers told Los Angeles television station KCBS that during the flight they helped to physically restrain the man when he refused to get dressed.

"We actually had to physically hold him down on the floor and handcuff his ankles, his wrists," said Matt McGinnis, who suffered several bruises trying to get the man under control.

When the flight landed, the man was arrested and handed over to the FBI. The flight then continued to Los Angeles.

It is unclear why the man removed his clothing.
