Three injured in Wake Forest crash

e-mail print friendly

Three people suffered minor injuries late Tuesday after a tractor-trailer and a Honda Pilot crashed at the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and Purnell Road in Wake Forest, according to troopers.

The tractor-trailer was heading north on U.S. 1 and the Pilot was going west on Purnell Road when they crashed into each other, authorities said. The Pilot came to rest in the middle of the road and was hit by a mo-ped and a Ford Windstar.

The tractor-trailer stopped on the shoulder and leaked diesel fuel from a tank on the passenger side, authorities said.

Emergency crews took three people to a hospital with minor injuries. They were all treated and released. Authorities declined to release their names.

Troopers said they don't know what caused the crash.

"Due to a lack of evidence from witnesses, no charges will be filed," according to the trooper who worked the crash.

No other information was available.

Have lived on Purnell for 25 years ... this is a terrible intersection ... it needs a leading green light for turning off of US 1. Never trust that people are going to stop ... have seen so many people run the red light and never slow down barrelling down US 1.

The headline seemed to imply there were serious injuries in the wreck

Drove through that intersection today and almost got hit by a truck running a red light with no attempt to slow down. Very dangerous to drive these days.
