CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Town of Chapel Hill is giving visitors a break on parking.

Beginning July 1, the first violation at a parking meeting will result, not in a ticket and a fine, but in a “Courtesy Ticket.” Drivers can use a “Courtesy Ticket” to get one parking violation dismissed within a calendar year.

The “Courtesy Ticket” program will contribute to a more positive experience for those who shop or visit downtown Chapel Hill, the town said in a news release.
