Durham residents report bear sightings

Bear spotted roaming Granville County subdivision

Residents of a Durham neighborhood reported multiple sightings of a bear Thursday, a spokesman for the county animal control office said.

The department has taken calls from people in the area of Berini Drive and Cole Mill Road, a neighborhood near Croasdaile Country Club in northwest Durham.

A caller told WRAL News that up to seven of her neighbors saw the bear between noon and 3 p.m. Thursday.

I live off of St Mary's and one of our neighbors saw a full grown black bear crossing the road last Sunday evening. Bet it's the same one.
