An  81-year-old pilot received minor injuries after his single-engine Cessna 150 plane tipped over after landing on a private air strip outside Zebulon Saturday morning.

George Abbot, of Raleigh, was driving the plane along the grassy runway at Phillip Bunn Airstrip, off N.C. Highway 96, between Jack Mitchell and Glory roads, when the nose gear broke around 9:15 a.m., said runway owner Ramona Bunn. The plane tipped over and damaged one wing.

Abbot sustained minor injuries and was taken to WakeMed, Wake County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens said. A passenger on the plane was uninjured.

EMS, firefighters and sheriff's deputies responded. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.

The plane is registered to Abbot and was manufactured in 1975, according to the FAA Web site.

Bunn said the airstrip is named after her late husband.
