Hoke County investigators are searching for a Raeford girl who they say ran away from home with the infant she was babysitting.

Renesha Shante Griner, 17, took off early Saturday with 9-month-old Saniya Purcell, investigators said. It was not known Tuesday why Griner left with the infant.

They are thought to have traveled by Greyhound bus to Alabama or Georgia, investigators said.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is assisting in the search. An Amber Alert was not issued in the case because Purcell is not believed to be endangered, investigators said.

Is it her baby? Oh well, whatever the case--I hope they are found safe.

When they interviewed the mother last night, It was crazy that a teenager would ask if she could keep your child for two weeks and you say know, but you still allow your child to go with her. I just don't know if I would be that trusting; and to think the teenager is trying to convince her ex boyfriend that the baby is hers.

They are both minors and this is not an Amber Alert. That is just crazy. How is it decided on who she be considered Amber Alerts? Also, if this happened Saturday why is it just making it to WRAL on Wednesday? Who made that decision as well? I guess a nine month old being on a Greyhound without her parents is not important.

They are not giving us all of the facts in the story. The baby is probably a relative. Even still if she took her, and didn't tell anyone, it should be an Amber Alert.

i agree with each one of you!!!! This is crazy she kidnapped this child that's an Amber Alert praying she returns home safely both of them.
