Raeford, N.C. — Hoke County investigators are searching for a Raeford girl who they say ran away from home with the infant she was babysitting.
Renesha Shante Griner, 17, took off early Saturday with 9-month-old Saniya Purcell, investigators said. It was not known Tuesday why Griner left with the infant.
They are thought to have traveled by Greyhound bus to Alabama or Georgia, investigators said.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is assisting in the search. An Amber Alert was not issued in the case because Purcell is not believed to be endangered, investigators said.
