Pittsboro woman accused of embezzling money from school

PITTSBORO, N.C. — A Pittsboro woman is accused of embezzling money from Perry Harrison School, where she worked as a bookkeeper.

Louisa May Johnson, 34, of 1419 Morris Road in Pittsboro, was taken into custody last week by detectives with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.

She is accused of stealing more than $9,000 from some Perry Harrison School accounts over the past several months.

Johnson was arrested without incident and charged with felonious obtaining property by false pretenses and two counts of felonious embezzlement.

She was released under a written promise, and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court on June 29.
