Two people are facing drug charges after a marijuana bust Wednesday at a Roanoke Rapids home.

Kristopher Wayne Patterson, 26, and Jennifer Leigh Johnson, 23, were arrested after a warrant was served to search their residence.

Agents from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said they found a handgun, over 13 grams of marijuana and various items used in the drug trade.

Patterson and Johnson were arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Patterson was released on a $2,000 unsecured bond. He is also currently on probation for a previous drug conviction from July of 2008.

Johnson was released on a $1,000.00 unsecured bond.

I have multiple guns, and im a member of the NRA. That said, I really believe that guns and drugs are not a good mix.

I agree with TAXMAN.... He is right.

"The gun may or may not have been illegal.. he very well could have had a permit, however it's illegal to have a gun and drugs together."

reaaally? Then why were they not charged with weapons possession along with the pot and paraphernalia?

This is one big waste of our taxes. Pot should be legalized, taxed and become a mainstream commodity like alcohol. You only bring the criminal element into it by making it illegal. People will use it no matter what the law says - it is just plain dumb to waste our resources on Pot! Alcohol causes many more problems, yet it is manageable - unlike when we made it illegal and gave the Kennedy Family all their wealth as the big booze dealers they were. Just legalize pot, tax it, regulate it and help people who have addiction issues as a medical problem, not a criminal problem.

"How do you know the gun was illegal? It said nothing about it, other than one was found. Big deal"
