Troopers: Driver fell asleep on U.S. 70 in downtown Raleigh

State troopers said a driver fell asleep, causing her car to drift off U.S. Highway 70 East and down an embankment underneath the Interstate 40 bridge in downtown shortly before midnight Sunday.

The driver and passenger were taken to WakMed and were expected to be OK, troopers said.

Sandra Taylor, 18, of Clayton, was charged with reckless driving.
