Roxboro, N.C. — Police investigators were on the scene where a body was found near a trailer park Saturday morning, said Capt. Tony Kirby of the Roxboro Police Department.
The body was discovered by a 9-year-old child in the wood line between Lehigh Mobile City and Martin Street in the mid-morning.
The body was identified as Sanford Lovelace Reed, 29, RPD Lt. Todd Boycher said. There were no signs of a struggle and the medical examiner found no signs of traumatic injury.
The body was sent to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy, Boycher said.
A vehicle registered to Reed was involved in a short police pursuit Friday night, Boycher said. When the officer found the vehicle, it was empty in a nearby parking lot and the driver was gone. The officer did not get a good look at the driver and could not confirm if Reed was behind the wheel.
