Raleigh, N.C. — A spokesman for the Speaker of the House in North Carolina said an investigation has started into actions by Burlington Republican Cary Allred.
Bill Holmes said other members told House Speaker Joe Hackney that Allred was intoxicated Monday night and had hugged a 17-year-old female page.
Hackney has asked the House sergeant at arms to look into the matter, Holmes said.
