Wife killed, husband OK in Garner motorcycle crash

A 42-year-old woman died and her 49-year-old husband was uninjured in a motorcycle crash Sunday night after celebrating her birthday at a friend's house.

Speed was a factor in the crash that killed Cheryl Ann Pickron, authorities said. Neither she nor her husband, Michael Gordon Pickron, were wearing a helmet when they crashed at 7712 Trudy Lane, troopers said.

Cheryl Ann Pickron was driving the motorcycle with a suspended license, officials said. She drove off the right side of the road, hit a mailbox and then a culvert, authorities said. She died at the scene.

My prayers go out to the Pickeron family; especially to the 10 year little girl who has lost her mother.

WRAL needs to get the facts right before posting! The husband was hurt, badly, thankfully he didnt die, and we all need to pray for this family. This was a tragic accident and she will be missed. All the facts are not here and people should shut their mouths before running them. Have some sympathy for the family.

WRAL never has the full story in any of their articles. They're website layout is just much more user friendly than others.

readerman said: "Just remember that far more people are driving cars than riding cycles. The proportional death rate is much higher with motor cycles."

Of course it is. But the same logic applies. Lives could be saved. How safe do we want to be?

Thank you jockey. YOu also bring a good point. I also tell them that just because they are wearing a helmet doesn't mean they can't still get hurt. You can get hurt either way.

I just read what the n&o printed. The N&O said he went to ER, WRAL said he didn't. Wral said speed was a factor and the N&O said alcohol was a factor.

All the details aren't out and I'm sorry if I make anyone mad, but this should be checkout then details released. Not rush to get the story out.
