Man, shot in parking lot, drives to hospital

A Durham man drove himself to the hospital after being shot multiple times early Saturday, police said.

Mario Upchurch, 26, was attacked in a parking lot at 901 Fayetteville St. around 2:30 a.m., police said. Upchurch then took himself to Duke University Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

Police were investigating the case as aggravated assault.

Anyone with information about it was asked to call Durham Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200 or the police Criminal Investigations Division at 919-560-4440. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information in certain felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
