Durham, N.C. — Emergency crews took a 7-month-old baby boy to Duke Medical Center Thursday night after a foul ball hit the child in the head at a Durham Bulls baseball game, the city’s 911 Center said.
The baby was in the picnic area near the left field line when he was hit, according to a Bulls spokesman.
Duke officials declined to release any information about the baby Friday morning. No other details were available.
The Durham Bulls team is owned by WRAL's parent company, Capitol Broadcasting.

Some of my friends were ice skating on that pond one day and I begged my father to let me go out and join them.
"No sir," he said in a serious voice that meant business, "the ice is too thin. You could get killed out there."
"Dad," I pleaded, "the other kids are out there!"
"Doesn't matter," Dad said. "You're my son and just because your Dad's fathers aren't smart enough to keep their sons off of thin ice doesn't mean you're going."
That was the end of that. About an hour later, the ice collaped about ten feet from shore and a kid win in to the chest. I imagine it isn't easy to swim in ice skates, so he stood there until my Dad and some of the other fathers got a rope to him and drug him in. The kid spent the night in the hospital from exposure.
Needless to say, I learned a lesson.
