A chase involving Wake County sheriff’s deputies and a suspect going the wrong way on Interstate 540 ended late Wednesday with a head-on collision, authorities said.

The chase started at 9:49 p.m. in Wake Forest after deputies tried to stop larceny suspect Bobby Poole Jr., authorities said. When Poole failed to stop, deputies chased him and tried to deploy stop sticks, but Poole wouldn't pull over.

Poole drove onto I-540 going the wrong way and crashed into another vehicle near the Gresham Lake Bridge, authorities said.

Emergency crews took Poole and the people in the other car to WakeMed North by ambulance. Their conditions were unknown.

No deputies were involved in the crash. Charges were pending against Poole, authorities said.

"I know Bobby Poole , Jr. There are circumstances here which contributed to this episode. In other words, it was not just a larceny and high speed chase by some criminal. There's a medical condition, as well as other factors involved, and he and the family need our prayers. I grew up with him, and he and his family are some of the finest people around. It is a sad and difficult situation."---

Oh yeah? Go to the DOC website, look him up and then tell me he's not just some criminal.

Once he's going the wrong way on a street, he's got to be stopped before he does kill someone. I hope the innocent folks who were hit will be okay...but chances are they will need months of physical therapy, plus having to endure all the aches and pains while they heal.

HM stich, are you telling me that you believe that a law enforcement helicopter almost landed on the roof of your house? What agency owns this helicopter? Do you think this pilot has singled you out for some reason for the purpose of annoying you or something? And finally, what do you mean by saying you are going to reinact Vietnam? I don't understand? Surely you are not threatening or implying the use of weapontry against a helicopter just because it is near your house are you sir?

"no id don't think theres a magical helicopter that can respond at will but I know that they can use the one that almost landed on my house a couple of days ago..by the way if you see the guy opperating it tell him the next time he trys a stunt like that im gonna reinact vietnam with his little LEO helicopter."---

Yeah, go ahead and give it a whirl and see how that turns out for ya. The reality is that you haven't a smidgen of a clue as to when a helicopter is available to law enforcement and when one isn't. But hey, you seem like you're smarter than us so go ahead, become a cop and then teach us how it's done there, genius.
