Yes, Smithfield has electricity. We also have indoor plumbing and running water. Go figure!

The power went out just as dinner was cooking on the stove. Yep, sucked to live in Smithfield last night.

Smithfield has electricity??

Isn't it funny that a "brief" power outage creates news? I have lived in rural NC all my life and power outages are just a way of life. Stuff happens! Whether it is a squirel, a gust of wind, an accident, a tractor taking down the lines, etc...

Seems like we have become a society of spoiled brats who are totally mortified of the possibility of being without all of our "conveniences".....did you ever think that spending some time in peace & quiet could actually be GOOD for ya?

Sorry, but the WHOLE town was not without power, if anything is going to happen it seems to always happen in South Smithfield. Four houses two streets over had power and the houses around them didn't. Also during Fran, we didn't get our power back within a day. Yes, those that lived around the hospital did get theirs back within a day. Power outaged in Smithfield are usually caused by a squirrel running across the power line!!
