Man sought in Robeson kidnapping, Fayetteville robbery

Jamal Antonio McRae - mug shot 3/2008 - wanted in robbery at Wal

Authorities searched Friday for a man wanted on kidnapping and attempted-murder charges in Robeson County and robbery and assault charges in Fayetteville.

The Robeson County Sheriff's Office charged Jamal Antonio McRae, 18, with first-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree murder and felony larceny of a vehicle.

Details of the incident from which those charges stem were not available, however.

Fayetteville Police on Friday also charged McRae with common-law robbery, assault inflicting serious bodily injury and felony conspiracy.

Police said that McRae and two other men punched another man inside the bathroom at the Wal-Mart, 7701 S. Raeford Road, and then took his money and jewelry on March 14.

Quentin Maurice Davis, 19, of 114 Woodland Court in Raeford, and Devonte Levente McGirt, 16, of 13 Yedda Road in Lumberton, also face charges of common-law robbery and felony conspiracy in the case. They were in the Cumberland County Jail Friday afternoon under separate $8,000 bonds.

McRae's last known address is in Lumberton. Police said he is a black man who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 160 pounds.

Police say McRae should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

He was placed on probation in April after being convicted of assault on a public official, according to state Department of Correction records.

Fayetteville police ask that anyone with information about McRae's whereabouts call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-TIPS (910-483-8477).
