Mastic, N.Y. — New York police say they arrested a 21-year-old man sought on an attempted murder warrant from Raleigh police.
Police on Long Island say Sean Lamar Melvin fled after a knife attack at 3805 Turnabout Court March 3. Asim Kali Brock High suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including slashes on his face and neck, Raleigh Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.
Raleigh authorities told police in Suffolk County they believed Melvin was in Mastic, N.Y. He was found at a residence there.
Melvin was being held for arraignment Thursday in Central Islip, N.Y. He is charged in New York with being a fugitive. The name of his attorney was not immediately on record.
Two other people at the Mastic home were charged with obstructing governmental administration.
Raleigh police arrested a second suspect, Andrae Terrell Dotson, on charges of attempted murder two days after the attack.
Sughrue said the attack was gang-related and wasn't random, but he could not comment on an Associated Press report that Melvin is a member of the Bloods street gang.
