Halifax County sheriff's deputies arrested April Clements of Landis Lane in Halifax on Wednesday and charged her with falsifying a break-in.

Det. Tyree Davis investigated the break-in and theft reported at Clements' home on Feb. 27. He found that Clements staged the theft to avoid paying for rented electronics. Davis recovered a flat-screen TV, Playstation II, DVD player, laptop computer and other property that Clements had listed as stolen.

She is charged with filing a false police report and larceny and was held on $1,000 bond.

We really have people on this site laying blame on the rental company. Wake up people..

Charge her with attempted fraud too. Make an example, you do without when you can't afford - and those were not nessecities!

Not only should the locals charge her the rental store should also take her to court for all the back rent. My guess a slap on the hand becasue she will get court appointed attoney and he will cut a deal.

iron fist...she should have paid the rental price or turned them back in to the store. Some people have their priorities mixed up, and these are the times that try men's souls, to see what they are made of. Evidently, this situation proves what this woman is made of...

She should have moved the items to a secure area until the investigation was complete. Not leave them in her home.
