Toddler wounded in drive-by shooting

print friendly

Robeson County authorities on Monday were investigating a drive-by shooting in which a 2-year-old boy was wounded.

Tayshawn Walters was listed in serious condition Monday at Duke University Hospital.

Deputies received a call at about 11 p.m. Sunday about a drive-by shooting at 171 Von St., off U.S. Highway 301 in the Saddletree neighborhood north of Lumberton. The home and two cars parked outside had been shot at at least six times, and at least one of the bullets hit the toddler, authorities said.

The home belongs to the boy's grandparents, and he was living there with his father, Montay Walters, his mother, Cherika McKinnon, and his brother, authorities said.

Investigators haven't released details about a motive for the shooting or possible suspects.

Drugs or gang or both. But one or the other for sure. Or am I profiling?

thats right colliedave. the b is the only thing they care about. prayers for the child.

So I guess I won't ever get another posting on WRAL, because ALL of my posts are too similar - that's because all of your stories are involving the same nature - let people speak their mind, it's called freedom of the press!!!!

I agree with all the previous posts! There is no doubt in my mind that this is drug related, why else would the grandparents have to house their GROWN children AND their grandchildren!!! And SQUEEK, you are right, also, no white people to blame for this problem.

Motive= Drugs. Somebody didn't pay up, and now the toddler has to pay by a stray bullet. This is disgusting.
