Fuquay-Varina man accused in ink pen stabbing

Mack Patterson accused of stabbing victim with ink pen. 3/20/09

A Fuquay-Varina man faced charges after officers say he stabbed a man in the chest with a pen.

According to the arrest warrant, Mack Patterson, 21, stabbed the victim in the chest with an ink pen and punctured the victim’s lung.

Patterson was arrested shortly after midnight Friday. He was being held in the Wake County Jail under a $30,000 bond Sunday. His first court appearance was set for Monday afternoon.

Patterson had been released from prison in August and was on parole after serving more than two years for common-law robbery and a probation violation, according to state Department of Correction Records. He was placed on parole in 2004 for first-degree burglary.
