Fayetteville wreck injures man critically

An 84-year-old man was in critical condition after a two-vehicle wreck on Grove Street, near Eastern Boulevard, late Friday morning, Fayetteville police said.

Raymond Depere, of Fayetteville, apparently lost consciousness due to a medical issue while driving a 2006 Dodge west on Grove Street. The Dodge drifted over and struck the left rear of a 2004 Kia, which was stopped for a red light, police said.

Depere was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The Kia driver, Doris Morgan, 59, of Stedman, was unhurt.

Police continued to investigate the wreck.
