Wake Forest, N.C. — A Warren County deputy has resigned after being charged with drunken driving, Sheriff Johnny Williams said Thursday.
Wake Forest police stopped Gary Robinson, 22, of 130-102 Mosby Forest Lane in Littleton, early Tuesday on Wake Union Church Road and charged him with driving while impaired, Williams said. The officers told the sheriff that Robinson smelled of alcohol and failed a sobriety test, he said.
Robinson resigned later that day, Williams said.
The incident marks the second time in recent months that a Warren County deputy has been charged with a crime.
In January, Raleigh police arrested Cornelius Orlando Davis, 40, of 119 Downey Road in Norlina and charged him with two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery against women.
Investigators said Davis inappropriately touched women at two stores in a north Raleigh shopping center by rubbing his genital area against their buttocks. Neither of the victims was physically harmed.
