e-mail print friendly

A car struck two students Wednesday afternoon as they were walking home from Fuquay-Varina Middle School, Bill Poston, a spokesman for the Wake County Public School System said.

Neither child was seriously injured. Poston described the students' injuries as "bumps" and said both were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

He did not identify the students.

The accident happened around 2:25 p.m. at the intersection of Woodrow and Church streets.

Police have not commented on the incident.

pay attention to pedestrians always an excuse. There were two that were hit, come on if you cannot see two people on the road you need to slow down and pay more attention.

I guess that because it happened in Fuquay, these kids safety is not as important as the one that was struck in Apex. The one in Apex was headlined and this story was buried. Typical of WRAL.

Once again Eduardo if you read my post just under yours you will see that I was explaining the rain was simply a comment I made about how easy it was those days to spot the less intelligent drivers. I am not saying the kids weren't out in the road, but at the same time, the article didn't specify that they were.

Every school has the problem of drugs, it isn't just Fuquay. I have known people in middle school to hold gin in their water bottles. It happens.. and that was in a back road county school. The point here is if you are aware that they do it, the least you can do is keep an eye out for them. Hitting them won't make them smarter, nor will it make your car look better. Kids aren't learning responsibility, it seems, as they used to. Running them down with a car won't really achieve that point.

what part of Fuquay were you in yesterday. The sun was out ALL day. Those who saw the rain, should have been stopped for DWI. Was this accident a hit-&-run or did the driver stay. I live in FV & I do not know if the children play chicken or if some of them are just aloof to what is going on. Also, as we are aware, we do have CHILDREN with a drug problem, not just narcotics. They attend our schools with some being intoxicated to some degree. There is a very active group in Fuquay that is trying to resolve this problem. For those who are not aware of the problem, you would be shocked!

No, pebbles, I made a comment on how the rain showed off the less smart of the driving community and it took off a little more than the kids debate. It isn't clear that the kids were in the road, but if they were bumping them wasn't really the way to go. We're the adults and teaching them to hit people when they get in the way isn't really the best way to break the bad habits they already have.
