Fayetteville man leads authorities on high-speed chase

A Fayetteville man faces a slew of charges after authorities said he led them on a multi-county chase.

The State Highway Patrol said Louis Lee Davis, 464 Huckleberry Drive in Fayetteville, was seen Tuesday near Bladensboro driving an SUV that had been reported stolen.

Troopers said Davis, 34, would not pull over for authorities and led them through Bladen and Cumberland counties before crashing the car on N.C. Highway 87, north of Spring Lake. The vehicle flipped after he tried to cross a median, troopers said. Davis sustained minor injuries in the wreck.

The chase reached speeds of more than 110 mph and lasted for about an hour.

Troopers said Davis was charged with fleeing to elude arrest, careless and reckless driving, speeding, multiple traffic violations and attempted assault on government officials for allegedly trying to run authorities off the road.

He will also be charged with stealing a vehicle in Bladen County, they said.
