A resident of a Cumberland County rest home was strangled by his roommate, an autopsy report shows.

An employee of Countryside Villa Rest Home found Levi Montgomery, 69, unresponsive in his room on Dec. 27.

Montgomery's roommate, Mencie Grimes, 60, was charged with second-degree murder in his death.

Authorities said the roommates got into an argument that turned violent. There was no word on what sparked the dispute.

I tell you these old people are mean...I am expecting my Uncle to do something crazy like this...He is mean, always has been. And now he's in a nursing home. I feel sorry for the staff and the other people that live there. Some of them are just as mean .

I don't know anything about either of these men, but I will say that too many people with histories of violence or mental illness are placed in residential settings with people who are not able to defend themselves against them. Just a guess this is what happened here. "The community" isn't the best place for everybody.

And they say today's problems are because of these "wild teenagers"...

Where were the Nurse's and CNA's when all of this was going on?
