Wendell, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation on Monday closed the right eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 264 between Smithfield Road and Wendell Boulevard.
The four-mile closure is part of the construction of on- and off-ramps that will connect to the future Wendell Falls Boulevard. The lanes will reopen by Aug. 13, officials said.
Mercury Development, which is behind the 1,400-acre Wendell Falls subdivision, is performing and paying for the road work, officials said.
