Raleigh, N.C. — Authorities on Sunday morning canceled a Silver Alert for a missing Raleigh man after he was found safe.
Raleigh Police said that James William Dickens, 83, was found in Chatham County.
A Silver Alert was issued for him Saturday evening after he had last been seen driving from his home to Crossroads Shopping Center in Cary.
Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing, endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.
It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
