Broadway, N.C. — A Harnett County sheriff's deputy was injured Friday afternoon in a wreck near McDougald and McCormick roads, close to the Lee County line.
Deputy Daniel C. Jackson was responding to an alarm call when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree, the Harnett County Sheriff's Office said.
Jackson was taken to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford and then transferred to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He was listed in critical condition Saturday evening.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol was investigating the wreck, the sheriff's office said. There was rain in the area at the time of the wreck, but authorities did not say whether it was a factor.
